North Cyprus Climate
North Cyprus has a Mediterranean climate with crystal clear sea, hot dry summers and mild winters. This goes to make Northern Cyprus an ideal holiday destination. North Cyprus has always been a favorable holiday location for all sun lovers. Cyprus experiences around 320 sunny days each year.
Holidaying in Cyprus is possible year round. The main tourist holiday season starts as early as March and lasts until middle November. For swimming, the water is warm and comfortable from May to November.
May to November, is hot and dry. Temperatures climb over 37º C with experience of rain an absolute exception. The winter is mild and at times can be rainy but the coldest months are January and February with temperatures expected between 15-16 º C.
July and August are the hottest months for North Cyprus. During mid July and August the temperature can climb to over 47 º C, and nightime temperatures are 20 to 23 ºC.
North Cyprus Currency
Currency for Northern Cyprus is YTL (New Turkish Lira). You will however find that in North Cyprus, Sterling is readily accepted.
It is normally advisable to wait until you arrive in North Cyprus before exchanging your money. Exchange rates fluctuate daily so by waiting you can check the daily rate of exchange being offered by banks & exchange bureaus.
In North Cyprus, Standard British rectangular 3-pinned plugs are used (5 amps or 13 amps) also some 2-pinned plugs do exist.
Anti-mosquito machines are continental 2-pinned and so for these you will require an adaptor. Don't worry, these are easy to find in local North Cyprus supermarkets.
